General Practice Data for Planning and Research data collection
From 1 September 2021, NHS Digital service will collect data from GP practices in England and will analyse, publish statistical data and provide safe, secure, lawful and appropriate access to GP data for health and social care purposes. This will include planning, commissioning, policy development, public health purposes (including COVID-19) and research. This new NHS Digital is engaging with the British Medical Association (BMA), Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and the National Data Guardian (NDG) to ensure relevant safeguards are in place for patients and GP practices.
All data will be pseudonymised and encrypted by your GP system suppliers on your behalf before it is transferred to NHS Digital. Access to GP data will only be via a Trusted Research Environment (TRE) and never copied or shipped outside the NHS secure environment, except where individuals have consented to their data being accessed, e.g. written consent for a research study.
As with the COVID-19 collection, access to the data will be through the NHS Digital Data Access Request Service (DARS) and will be subject to a robust approvals process, which includes oversight by the Independent Group Advising on Release of Data (IGARD) and a Professional Advisory Group, which is made up of representatives from the BMA and RCGP.
Type 1 Opt-Out form
If you do not wish your data to be shared with NHS Digital please complete a Type 1 Opt-out form and return to the surgery by 23rd August 2021. If you register a Type 1 Opt-out after this collection has started, no more of your data will be shared with NHS Digital but any data already shared will continue to be held by NHS Digital
National Data Opt-Out
If you do not want NHS digital to share your identifiable data patient data with anyone else for purposes beyond your own care you can register a National Data Opt-Out. FACE COVERINGS -We are aware that some patients might be understandably anxious about the Government's recent announcements around the use of face masks in various public settings. The Government's guidance on exemptions suggest there is no requirement for evidence for exemption therefore it is sufficient for an individual to self-declare this. Doctors are not in a position to provide individual risk assessments or write letters for patients who feel they are exempt from wearing a face covering. You may print your own EXEMPTION CARDS for use on public transport or when our in public. For more information can be found on the governments site.
EMERGENCY CONTRACEPTION - If you are under 25 you can get free emergency contraception from these Pharmacies. Over 25's should contact the surgery and book an on the day appointment with one of our ANPs.
Pain Management Webinar - manage the pain you experience, be less bothered by negative emotions, cope better with pain related anxiety and low mood or simply learn to feel calmer and more positive. This may be the course for you.
Cervical Screening Text Scam -
We have received reports that some woman are being contacted via text message and advised they are overdue cervical screening, the text also advises to call a mobile number and provide personal information. These are not from any NHS department. Please do not call this number. If you are unsure please contact the surgery on our normal number 01604 670780.
AWARD WINNING GP TEACHING PRACTICE OF THE YEAR 2019!
We are delighted to have won the award for being the GP TEACHING PRACTICE of the year 2019 by Warwick Medical School.

For all urgent appointments, we ask that you undertake a symptom assessment through DoctorLink. The symptom checker will ask you a number of questions to help to identify your problem. The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self care. If your outcome indicates that an appointment is required, you simply click on the request appointment link. Once the request has been submitted, you will then be contacted by the Practice Team, to arrange an appointment within the identified timeframe (as outlined in the outcome of your symptom checker).
The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member prior to your appointment.
